This is a 10 part series where we will guide you on all the aspects that you should keep in mind while starting a business.

First things first, how long have you been wanting to start a business? A few days, months or a few years?
In today’s competitive world, everybody wants to start his or her own business. And why shouldn’t you think of it?

Well starting a business today is not as hard as it was before. Today technology has grown so much that you can start your business in the next few hours to a few days depending on your country. So let’s have a look at the most basic two questions, which you should have an answer before starting a new business.

  1. Do you have an idea?
It is not necessary you should have a unique idea, but you need to have one idea at least.
  2. How long has the idea been on your mind?
If it was just a few seconds before, give it some time to sink in, because you have to think about both the plus as well as the minus points of that idea. If the idea has been on your mind for a long time, what are you waiting for?

If you don’t have an idea, let’s first help you get an idea. The internet is a vast place to search for your idea. You can just Google what your idea is about, and see who are your competitors. You can list down a few of them, have a look at their websites, and get an idea about how they operate. You can see their reviews on Google, Yelp, or any other review website. This helps you know what the business is lacking, the frustrations of their customers, their shortcomings, etc. Now think, if your idea can really help these customers, be satisfied?

If you are not sure about it or your answer is no, you need to take some time and think, what better can you provide these unhappy customers with?

But, if your answer is Yes, it’s time to now to take the plunge. You have a great idea, you have thought about it and you are sure you will succeed.

In our next part of this series, we will discuss the things that are important to start your own business.
